Shawn Barker is a Mixologist who has been in the food service industry for 13 years. He has excelled in all aspects of the restaurant business, starting as a busser and working his way up to bar manager and mixologist. His career experience has included stinits at some of the most high profile locations in Las Vegas; including Caramel and Light at Bellagio Resort, Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay Resort and Ice Nightclub that was featured on Spike’s hit TV show, “The Club.”
He has trained under Master Mixologist, Tony Abu-Ganim, of the Bellagio Resort and Casino. Shawn also has a certificate for “Advanced Spirits Training” at Southern Wine and Spirits under Francesco Lafanconi, the founder and director of the course. He has been in numerous newspapers across the Las Vegas area and been featured as the Mixologist in several books.
He began his career with Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group at Chinois in Caesar’s Palace where he started designing custom cocktails for the company. He then went on to Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in MGM Grand, Las Vegas. Shawn relocated to the Los Angeles area to open Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at LA Live. He has created bar menus for Spago, Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill, WP24, CUT, as well as Chinois.
Shawn as a Bar Consultant has built bar programs for different restaurants in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Long Beach and San Diego. You can find him currently tending bar at Burlap in Del Mar.
He is a native of San Diego but spent most of his career in the Las Vegas area honing his skills. He now again resides in the San Diego area with his family.
